Malaysian Teen, Alviss Kong Committed Suicide after Leaving Final Messages on Facebook

There was a recent issue in Malaysia involving a 22 year old Chinese teen that jumped off from the 14th floor of the apartment where he lived. Alviss Kong, killed himself due to emotional distress brought about by the recent breakup with his girlfriend of four month old relationship.

It was also reported in the local newspaper that Alviss had the same experience before where he committed suicide after breaking up with his first girl friend but luckily he was saved in the nick of time. The depression over the second break up seemed to have caused him to spiral out of control and again leading him to re-attempt suicide. However, this time he didn't escape death. Love kills!

On the day he committed suicide, Alviss has posted a farewell note on his Facebook profile page together with a photo that he tagged as the final photo of himself alive . He looked quite overly depressed in the picture with tears rolling down from his eyes. The sorrow was hard to bear and it seems that life mean nothing to him at that moment.

At around 11.15 pm (local time) on Wednesday, 12/8/2010, he posted a status message on his Facebook wall that sounds "Count Down For 45 Mins... What should I do in this 45 mins?" There were quite a few responses towards this status, particular from his sister, Chelvin who currently lives in Brunei. One of the messages in which he told Celvin to take care of their mum and family really freaked her out. You can read on her status below.

Worrying about his brother, Chelvin tried to called him at around 1.30 am but failed to get through. Thus, she contacted her father to check out whereabouts of Alviss. His father as usual found him having a drink with his friends at a nearby stall where they live. Chelvin then had a short chat with him to find out what was wrong with him but she was told that it was just a prank that he wanted to play on his friends. He reassured her that everything was fine and told her to go back to sleep.

At around 3.30 am, his father was awakened by a loud noise and when he looked down from the veranda, he saw Alviss lying on a car covered in blood. Alviss was rushed to the hospital but the doctor failed to resurrect him. He was pronounced death at 9.00 am, just a few hours after the jump. People began blogging about his suicide soon after the news spread.

His father was quoted saying, "Why didn't he think about his family as much as he did for a girl he only knew for four months?"

Again love kills!

There were quite a lot of discussions in Malaysian forums regarding this issue, particular when the news has just spread. Some had opinions that he was selfish for not thinking about his parents and family prior to ending his life. It was so silly for him to end his life due to a failed relationship that only lasted for four months.

Some even said that this was an revenge that he attempted on his girlfriend for breaking up with him, which he wanted to make her feel guilty for the rest of her life. Well, that's just people opinions.

Well, there were also people who love him very much. He would do everything to prove his love for the person that he loves. It's hard to find such a person that it deeply in love with someone.

The only thing that I want to express here is that no one should commit suicide. Your life does not ONLY belong to you, it also belongs to the people around you, particular your parents and those that love you.

Can you imagine that in a life threatening situation, the mother can go so far for even sacrificing her life in order to protect her child? Why take it yourself?

Don't kill yourself for the person you love but live your precious life for the people who love you.

Alviss Kong announced in his blog that his relationship with his ex-girl friend started on the 26th of July 2010. He was very passionate about this relationship and has posted quite some happy memories in his blog journal. However, the relationship did not last long and it ended in the beginning of December 2010. Sources indicated that it was on 5th December 2010, four days before his count down suicide. This was his second relationship and he has been rejected five times before he got a 'yes' from her.

In your definition, what is love?

I gave up everything for you, you cast me aside so heartlessly again and again, you said you love me, you said you had never changed, it's just not in your mind anymore.

Your heartlessness given me the courage to end my life.

Sounds silly? I also find myself being silly, I'd told you before I love you, I said it and I meant it.. I'll love you till the moment I die.

Now I'd said it, I'd to give myself a breakthrough.

Not because of you, but because in my world, indeed there is only love, and you're the girl that I love most.

Today I wanna thank you for the one last sweet memory, the hug you gave me in the cinema really made me felt like everything was coming back.

Unknowingly, in the end, you still stuck to your decision.

You'd changed, you said you still love me, but I just felt that you just love being with them.

Love, is not my game. I have messed up with both of my relationship.

With regrets, at the end of the day, you didn't even give me the last chance to send you home, .....never mind.

I won't have the chance next time, because once you finish reading this, I would have already left the world.

I can't truly understand your love, but within these four months are the happiest moments in my life, so let them be in your memory for eternity.

This is really tragic and I don't know why it bothers me very much. I keep on thinking about this youngster even though I have not met him before. It's really a waste and I regret that he has chosen to end his life at such a very young age. This was really not the right thing to do but I really hope that he is doing well now at the other side. He was too much in 'love' and couldn't differentiate what's wrong and what's not.

To his ex-girlfriend: Don't blame yourself, it's not your fault, this was his decision. Life is precious, so cherish it.

To his family: Don't blame the girl, no one's wrong here. He is gone, nothing much can be done now. One thing for sure, he still lives in your memory forever. God bless!
